Everything started with a Travel agency, Mama Afrika has been doing tours around the island for more than 50 years. With the benefits of this agency, she could open a small school in her homeland, Nungwi, which became also an orphanage after some years.

But... ¿What about food? The traditional food and recipes in Mama Afrika family have been feeding people since immemorial times. 

Our restaurant is the first and original Mama Afrika in the island and we have evolved and developed our cuisine to master the ancient recipes and bring them to your mouth.
